George bracket: 2019 Cleveland Indians defeat 2019 Toronto Blue Jays in seven games

Cleveland survived a bullpen-crushing three extra inning games, two blown saves by their closer and Toronto's aggressive use of the opener (Derek Law started each even-numbered game). The series culminated with a Francisco Lindor grand slam with two outs in the 11th inning of Game Seven.

Game One: Indians 7, Blue Jays 0: Shane Bieber and two relievers held Toronto to two hits and no walks, facing just two batters above the minimum. Leonys Martin scored three runs from the ninth slot in the batting order.

Game Two: Blue Jays 5, Indians 3: Cleveland led 2-0 going into the bottom of the eighth, but Toronto erupted for five runs against Nick Goody and Adam Cimber. Rowdy Tellez hit a three-run homer to put the Jays ahead for good. Tyler Naquin homered, doubled and scored twice for Cleveland.

Game Three: Blue Jays 8, Indians 6 (12 innings): Toronto had a 5-0 lead after the top of the fourth and a 6-3 lead after the top of the eighth, but the Tribe plated three runs off three Jays pitchers. For the second straight game, Goody was charged with the loss and Wilmer Font got credit for the win.

Game Four: Indians 5, Blue Jays 4 (13 innings): Another marathon, this one going to Cleveland. Greg Allen singled in the winning run after Jason Kipnis was intentionally walked for the third time in the contest. The Jays forced the extra innings with a two-run homer by Randal Grichuk in the eighth and a solo shot by Danny Jansen in the ninth, the latter off Brad Hand. Oliver Perez worked two perfect innings for the win.

Game Five. Blue Jays 3, Indians 2: Cleveland scored twice in the fifth and carried that lead into the ninth, but Nick Wittgren allowed a walk and a single. Hand entered with two on and one out, and Grichuk greeted the lefty closer with a three-run homer, Hand's second straight blown save. The sieres now returned to Toronto with the Jays one game away from advancing.

Game Six: Indians 5, Blue Jays 3: Toronto led 3-2 after six innings, but Cleveland plated one run in each of the final three innings. The Jays did not get a man on base after losing the lead. Cleveland got homers from Kipnis, Jordan Luplow and Roberto Perez.

Game Seven: Indians 7, Blue Jays 3 (11 innings): It was 3-3 after four innings and 3-3 after 10. Jays relief ace Ken Giles entered in the top of the 11th and fanned the first two men he faced, but then walked Perez and Martin, then hit Naquin. That brought up Lindor for his long-ball dramatics. In a reversal of their failures earlier in the series, Goody got credit for the win, and Hand closed it out, albeit without getting a save.

Projected rotation: Bieber-Clevenger-Bauer-Civale-(Bieber)-(Clevenger)-(Bauer). Plesac will be deactivated for the second round in favor of Civale. Tyler Clippard and Hunter Wood should sit out Game One.

Ringo bracket: 2019 Los Angeles Dodgers defeat 2017 Arizona Diamondbacks in seven games

Cody Bellinger powered the Dodgers to the series win with 13 RBIs and five homers. Los Angeles outscored Arizona 42-28, but the series was much closer.

Game One: D'backs 6, Dodgers 3: Brandon Drury went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a homer, driving in two runs and scoring three. The Snakes scored twice in the top of the first inning and the Dodgers never caught up. Zach Greinke allowed one run in seven innings.

Game Two: Dodgers 5, D'backs 1: Walker Buehler scattered five hits in six innings, and three Dodgers relievers worked one scoreless frame apiece to even the series. Bellinger homered, doubled and singled, driving in four and scoring twice.

Game Three: D'backs 4, Dodgers 3: The Dodgers scored a pair in the top of the fifth, but homestanding Arizona got one back in the bottom of the inning, took the lead with two in the sixth and added a vital insurance run in the seventh. Andrew Chafin proected a one-run lead in the eighth by getting two outs with two on, and Fernando Rodney loaded the bases in the ninth before inducing a game-ending double play from Bellinger.

Game Four: Dodgers 13, D'backs 4: Bellinger hammered three homers and drove in eight runs in the rout. Justin Turner and Joc Pederson each drove in two runs as well.

Game Five: Dodgers 6, D'backs 1: Pederson drove in three runs with a pair of homers and Max Muncy hit a three-run homer to back Clayton Kershaw, who allowed one run in six innings. 

Game Six: D'backs 8, Dodgers 5: Arizona flexed its muscle in the top of the sixith; its first five hitters that inning when double, double, double, triple and homer, that last a pinch-hit shot by Ketel Marte. Daniel Descalso hit a pair of triples. Corey Seager homered twice for the Dodgers.

Game Seven: Dodgers 7, D'backs 5: Max Muncy broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run homer in the fourth off Patrick Corbin, and Russell Martin added a two-run homer in the sixth. Seager also had two RBIs.

Projected rotation: Kershaw-Maeda(?)-Buehler-Ryu-(Kershaw)-(?)-Buehler. The bullpen will be fully available for the first game of the second round.

George bracket: 2017 Minnesota Twins defeat 2009 Seattle Mariners in six games

Eddie Rosario blasted five homers and drove in 12 runs in the six games to lead Minnesota to the series victory. Seattle's right-handed pitchers struggled to deal with the Twins platoon-heavy lineups.

Game One: Twins 10, Mariners 4: Rosario hit a three-run homer, and Robbie Grossman and Edurdo Escobar also went deep. The Twins scored five runs off Seattle ace Felix Hernandez, and then worked over two Mariners relievers in the seventh and eighth innings.

Game Two: Twins 3, Mariners 2: Releiver Brandon Morrow retired the first two Twins in the top of the ninth, but then the Twins went walk, single, walk, walk to break the tie. Rosario hit a two-run homer in the seventh for the only hit off Seattle lefty Erik Bedard.

Game Three: Mariners 9, Twins 5: Seattle peppered Kyle Gibson for nine hits and five runs in two innings Doug Fister allowed one run in five innings for the win.

Game Four: Mariners 9. Twins 8: Seattle scored at least one run in six different innings but never more than two, while the Twins did mose of their damage with a five-run fifth. Ryan Rowland-Smith got credit for the victory despite the difficult fifth. Seattle got homers from Russell Branyan and Jose Lopez,

Game Five: Twins 5, Mariners 4: Rosario hit a two-run homer in the first off King Felix and a three-run shot in the third to account for all of Minnesota's runs. Seattle made it close win in seventh with three runs, all charged to starter and winner Ervin Santana.

Game Six: Twins 2, Mariners 1: Escobar homered in the second and Rosario homered in the fourth, and Jose Berrios went seven innings for the series-clinching victory. Trevor Hildenberger retired all six men he faced to close out the pitchers duel. Seattle went hitless after the third inning..

Projected rotation: Santana-Gibson(?)-Berrios-Colon(?)-(Santana)-(Gibson?)-(Berrios). The Twins may swap out Colon and/or move Gibson to Game Four. The bullpen will be fully rested for the second round.
