The Yankee bullpen collectively worked 13 scoreless innings over the five games, allowing two hits.

Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first of the Yankee Stadium opener off Mudcat Grant, and that concluded the scoring for the day, Luis Severino allowed four hits in six innings for the win, and Dellin Betances, David Robertson and Aroldis Chapman each worked an inning.

Judge tied Game Two with an eighth-inning homer off Gary Bell. Chase Headley doubled home Gary Sanchez later in the inning with the winning run. Adam Warren, the second of three relievers, got the win.

The series shifted to 1961 and Municipal Stadium in Cleveland for Game Three. Todd Frazier hit a pair of homers and drove in all four runs to wreck Dick Stigman's long relief outing, initated when start Jim Perry was injured after two scoreless innings. Stigman allowed four runs on five hits in six innings. Chad Green was credited with the win.

Michael Pineda, New York's fourth starter for this series, wild-pitched home both Cleveland runs in Game Four. That was enough for the Tribe, who got seven innings of one-run, four-hit ball from Barry Latman and pieced together the final six outs from three relievers.

Severino and the bullpen wrapped up the series in Game Five. Judge hit his third homer of the series in the fourth inning. Severino didn't allow a hit until two outs into the sixth, when Willie Kirkland followed a Starlin Castro error with a homer. Severino finished the inning, but the Yankees then started their bullpen parade, with Tommy Kahnle, Robertson and Chapman each throwing a hitless inning -- a four-pitcher one-hitter.

The 1961 Tribe upset the 2017 champions, getting complete games in the final two games and outscoring the Astros by 11 runs over the six contests.

The Astros jumped out in front in the opener at Minute Maid Park, with Jose Altuve and Marwin Gonzalez getting RBI hits in a three-run third. But the Tribe scored three of their own in the top of the fourth, with Johnny Temple hitting an unlikely two-run homer off Justin Verlander. Willie Kirkland's home in the fifth drove Verlander from the mound, and the Tribe tagged Luke Gregerson for three more in the sixth, with Kirkland picking up two more RBIs.

Houston even the series with an 11-inning win in Game Two. With two outs in the 11th, Altuve doubled and Gonzalez singled him in to make Dick Stigman the loser. Woodie Held hit for the cycle in Cleveland's loss, going 5-for-5 with two singles, a double, a triple and a homer. The homer came in the eighth inning off Francisco Liriano and tied the game.

The series shifted to 1961 and Memorial Stadium in Cleveland for Game Three. Yuri Gurriel hit a three-run homer in the second off Gary Bell. The Tribe did work a 3-3 tie, but consecutive doubles in the seventh from Gurriel and Alex Bregman put the Astros back in front, and Houston relievers Brad Peacock and Ken Gile stranded five baserunners in the final two innings to protect that lead.

Houston's Game Four starter, Collin McHugh, lasted just two innings, allowing six runs, five earned. Kirkland had three RBIs off McHugh. The Astros pulled within two runs after five innings, but in the sixth Tito Francona hit a three-run homer off Peacock. John Romano and Francona added solo shots in the eighth and ninth innings respectively.

Mudcat Grant outdueled Verlander in Game Five. Verlander yielded two runs in six innings on five hits; Grant went the distance on a four-hitter, with the only run coming in the sixth when Gonzalez followed Altuve's two-out single with a double. Grant struck out seven and walked none. Romano and Temple had the RBIs for the Indians.

The series reverted to 2017 and Houston for Game Six, and the Astros scored a pair of first inning runs. But designated hitter Chuck Essigian homered in the second off Dallas Keuchel, and Held hit a two-run homer to put Cleveland ahead. Kirkland hit another two-run homer in the fifth, and Jim Perry took it from there. Perry threw an eight-hitter, only four of them after the first inning, and walked none.

Cleveland dropped the first two games but bounced back for four straight wins,.

Mudcat Grant appeared in firm control of the opener in Anaheim's Angel Stadium, allowing just one hit (a Mike Trout homer) in the first eight innings. Don Dillard's homer in the eighth off reliever Fernando Salas gave Cleveland a 4-1 lead. But in the ninth Trout walked, Justin Upton singled and with two outs Albert Pujols tied it with a three-run shot off Grant. Upton hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 11th off Dick Stigman for the walkoff.

Jesse Chavez dominated for seven innings in Game Two. He held to Tribe to five hits and no runs while fanning seven. The Angels got three runs off Gary Bell, two on sac flies, and held on despite a two-run homer in the ninth by Willie Kirkland.

The series shifted to Cleveland's Memorial Stadium for Game Three, and the series tilted in Cleveland's favor. Jim Perry allowed three runs in eight innings, while Mike De la Hoz, subbing for the injured Bubba Phillips, hit a three-run homer and John Romano drove in another three with a homer and double. Romano also scored three runs.

Barry Latman took a shutout into the eighth inning for the Game Four victory. He allowed one run on four hits. Tito Francona broke the game open with a grand slam off Yusmeiro Petit.

Romero went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Game Five, while Grant went eight innings despite allowing homers to Trout and Kaleb Cowart. Phillips and Vic Power each had a pair of RBIs.

The series went back to Anaheim, but the Tribe won on the road this time. Bell was pulled with one out in the fifth, trailing 4-2, but the Indians scored the next five runs, including a two-run homer by Phillips, his third straight game with a homer. Bobby Locke, John Antonelli and Wynn Hawkins combined to blank the Angels into the ninth. Anaheim rallied for a run off Hawkins in the ninth, but Frank Funk fanned Upton with the tying run on base for the series-clinching save.
