Montreal 4, St. Louis 3 (12 innings): St. Louis shortstop Mike Tyson threw a ball away with two outs in the bottom of the 12th to allow the winning run to score. It was Tyson's second error of the game, and both resulted in Expos runs. The Cardinals tied the game in the eighth inning against Mike Marshall. Pat Jarvis was credited with the win and Al Hrbrosky was charged with the loss. The Expos have won six straight games.
Houston 4, New York 3: Lee May clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning and Cesar Cedeno added a solo shot in the fifth to power the front-running Astros to a series win over the second-place Mets. The Mets had men on second and third with no outs in the eighth but did not score and left the bases loaded in the ninth. Dave Roberts was the winner, Jerry Koosman the loser and Jim York got the save.
