Pat Jarvis was credited with the win and Al Hrbrosky was charged with the loss. The Expos have won six straight games.

Houston 4, New York 3: Lee May clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning and Cesar Cedeno added a solo shot in the fifth to power the front-running Astros to a series win over the second-place Mets. The Mets had men on second and third with no outs in the eighth but did not score and left the bases loaded in the ninth. Dave Roberts was the winner, Jerry Koosman the loser and Jim York got the save.
