Milwaukee scored at least six runs in each game to overpower Seattle.

The Brewers opened Game One in Miller Park with a three-run first and essentially put the game away with four unearned runs in the third inning. Fernando Villar drove in three runs for the Brewers and Travis Shaw scored three times.

Game Two featured star closers blowing leads. It was scoreless after seven innings (James Paxon for the M's, Jimmy Nelson for the Brew Crew) until Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer in the eighth for Seattle. The Brewers responded with two in the bottom of the inning, getting hits off three different Seattle relievers, and brought in Corey Knebel for the save op. But Keon Broxton muffed a fly in center to set up two unearned runs that put the visitors in the lead. Edwin Diaz in turn surrendered a solo homer to Broxton n the bottom of the inning to even the score. After Josh Hader threw a perfect 10th, James Pazos failed to get an out in the bottom of the frame, with Travis Shaw hitting a three-run homer.

The series shifted to Seattle and Safeco Field, where Milwaukee's Chase Anderson allowed five hits in seven scoreless innings. Eric Thames and Ryan Braun hit back-to-back homers in the eighth for the visitors.

Milwaukee wrapped it up with a quick demolition of "King Felix" Hernandez in Game Four, peppering Hernandez for six runs on nine hits in 3.6 innings. Matt Garza allowed two runs in five innings, and the Brewer bullpen allowed just one hit and one walk over the final four innings. Pazos struck out seven men in a 2.1 inning relief stint for Seattle.

This battle of St. Louis swung from pitchers duels to slugfests.

Urban Shocker scattered six hits while going the distance in the opener at Busch Stadium III. Wally Gerber double in two runs in the second inning to stake Shocker to the lead, and Marty McManus scored a pair of runs for the Browns.

The Browns also took Game 2, but it took 15 innings. McManus scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 15th on a two-out error by Kolten Wong, and Elam Vangilder stranded the tying run at third in the bottom of the inning. Lance Lynn threw seven scoreless innings for a no-decision, allowing just four hits.

The series shifted to 1924's Sportsman's Park, and the Cardinals drove Ernie Wingard from Game Three in the first inning. Randall Grichuk's three-run homer capped a five-run outburst. The Browns whittled away at the lead, but their bullpen surrendered seven runs in the final four innings, including a three-run homer by Paul DeJong in the ninth.

Shocker returned for Game Four and was masterful. The only hit the Cardinals got off the spitballer was a second-inning single by Stephen Piscotty. Shocker walked two and struck out eight, and also tripled and scored the first run of the game.

The Browns blasted Cardinals ace Carlos Martinez from the mound in the first inning in Game Five; Martinez didn't record an out as the Browns peppered him for six runs on a walk, two singles and three doubles. But the Cardinals avoided elimination with seven runs in the final three innings, tagging Wingard, who worked the ninth, with the 10-9 loss.

The series reverted to 2017 and Busch III, and Lynn dueled Dixie Davis. Each threw eight scoreless innings before leaving for pinch hitters. Jose Martinez plated the only run of the game in the bottom of the ninth with a single that bought in Grichuk.

Game Seven rematched Game One's starters: Shocker, working for the second time on short rest, against Martinez, getting the ball on two days rest after failing to record an out in Game Five. Martinez again failed to retire a hitter, although this time there was an error involved. George Sisler homered off Martinez, and Jack Tobin capped the eight-run first with a three-run homer off Matt Bowman. The Cards plated four unearned runs in the second, but Shocker recovered to toss seven innings, allowing just one earned run, before turning the final two innings over to Vangilder, who allowed an unearned run but nailed down the game and the series.

Philadelphia battered the Tampa Bay starters throughout the series; the only Rays starter to go at least five innings, Alex Cobb, surrendered six runs.

The series opened in Tropicana Field, and the A's racked up a pair of runs in each of the first two innings off Chris Archer, with Joe Hauser driving in three of those runs. Eddie Rommell took a 5-0 lead into the fifth, but the Rays tied it with two in the fifth and three in the sixth. The 5-5 tie held until the eighth, when Adeiny Hechavarria and Kevin Kiermeier powered a three-run inning with back-to-back doubles.

Philadelphia evened the series despite Steven Souza Jr.'s three-run triple in the first. Max Bishop hit a leadoff homer for the A's and drove in two more in the fourth with a double as the Rays scored four runs to take the lead. Fred Heimach, who allowed five runs in the first four innings, allowed just two singles and a walk in his next four innings, and Stan Baumgartner finished it with an easy three-batter ninth.

The series shifted to 1924 and Shibe Park for Game Three, and the Athletics called on Baumgatner to start on one day's rest. The lefty shut out the Rays for five innings before allowing three runs in the sixth, By then the A's had scored five runs off Jake Odorizzi, with Al Simmons collecting two RBIs and a run scored with three hits, one a double. Wilson Ramo's homer in the eighth pulled Tampa Bay within a run, but the Rays left the bases loaded in the ninth.

Philadelphia started Rommell on three days rest in Game Four, and the knuckleballer came through with eight shutout innings and even drove in the A's second run with a fourth-inning double off loser Blake Snell. Simmons hit two more doubles and a single, scoring once and driving in another.

Bing Miller hit a grand slam in the first inning of Game Five for the Athletics off Archer, and Sam Gray went the distance to wrap up the series, scattering six hits. He walked two and fanned seven.

Bill Monbouquette held Milwaukee to two singles in the first eight innings. But after he struck out Hank Aaron to open the ninth, he walked Eddie Mathews and Joe Adcock. Frank Thomas singled home Mathews, and Mike Fornieles relieved. He walked Frank Bolling to load the bases, and Charlie Lau singled in Adcock and Thomas for the win.

Lew Burdette allowed one unearned run in seven innings in Game Two for the Braves. Pinch-hitter Mack Jones put Milwaukee up in the bottom of the seventh with a base hit, and three Braves relievers combined for the final six outs. Joe Torre scored both Milwaukee runs.

The series moved to Fenway Park for Game Three, and the bats awoke -- at least for the Braves. Thomas drove in three runs with a two-run homer and a bases-loaded walk, and Bolling clubbed a three-run homer. Bob Buhl went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, for the win.

The Braves went for the kill in Game Four, bringing back Spahn on short rest, and it worked. Spahn homered in the second and allowed two runs on three hits in 7.1 innings, leaving after he walked two and allowed a single in the eighth. Claude Raymond threw a double-play ball to end that threat, and while Tony Cloninger wild-pitched two runs home in the ninth, he still got the three outs needed to end the game. Torre hit a three-run homer in the eighth.

The Dodgers prevailed in a high scoring series with 17 homers in the six games.

Ozzie Albies, substituting for the injured Brandon Phillips, homered, tripled and doubled to lead the Braves in the opener in Los Angeles' Memorial Coliseum. He drove in five runs and scored twice. Julio Teheran threw six scoreless innings for the win. Johan Carmago had a three-run homer and two singles.

The Dodgers evened the series behind Don Drysdale in Game Two. Big D allowed one run on four hits through eight innings, but was pulled after allowing back-to-back doubles to open the ninth. Larry Sherry allowed the inherited runner to score but picked up the save. The Dodgers scored three runs in the sixth with just one hit, a two-run single by Frank Howard; they also drew three walks and a hit batter and had a sac fly.

The series shifted to 2017 suburban Atlanta and its new Sun Trust stadium, where neither starter made it past the fourth inning. Phillips had a grand slam in the seventh to make a loser of reliever Turk Ferrell; Phillips also drove in a pair with a third inning single off Stan Williams. Jim Gilliam drove in four runs for the Dodgers.

The series pivoted to the Dodgers in Game Four. Wally Moon hit a game-tying homer in the seventh, and in the 10th inning Willie Davis singled home John Roseboro for the go-ahead run. Sherry had to relieve Ferrell with two on and two out in the bottom of the inning to retire Phillips for the save.

The Dodgers jumped out to a big early lead in Game Five. Sandy Koufax staggered through seven innings (four runs on seven hits, three walks and a hit batter) for the win. Tommy Davis hit a grand slam and gathered five RBIs in all. He, Moon and Ron Fairly each scored two runs in the first three innings.

The series reverted to 1961 and the Coliseum for Game Six, and Los Angeles wrapped it up behind Roseboro's three-run homer and a solo shot from Duke Snider. Wally Moon nailed Phillips at the plate as the Atlanta second baseman tried to score the tying run in the sixth. Drysdale went eight innings for the victory, and Ron Perranoski survived his own bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth for the save.
