Houston (Richard and Griffin) at St. Louis (Foster and Cleveland), 2
Pittsburgh (Ellis) at Chicago (Reuschel)
Houston 5, St. Louis 2 (17 innings): Doug Rader hit a two-run homer in top of the ninth to spoil Tom Murphy's shutout, and the game dragged on for a bullpen-depleting additions eight innings before the Astros broke through against Mike Nagy. Jim Ray got the win with 5.2 scoreless innings of relief; Dave Roberts, who had been scheduled to start in Tuesday's double header, got the final out with the bases loaded. Roberts' start will be pushed back to Wednesday's double header. Cesar Cedeno and Jim Wynn had consecutive RBI doubles in the winning rally.
