Pittsburgh 3, Montreal 2 (11 innings): Dave Parker led off the bottom of the 11th with a homer off Tom Walker. Willie Stargell homered in the fourth off Steve Renko, who allowed two runs on four hits in six innings. Jim Rooker got the win with 3.2 innings of one-hit relief.
St. Louis 5, Chicago 4 (12 innings): Ted Simmons doubled to lead off the bottom of the 12th and Joe Torre brought him home with a base hit to the gap to win it for St. Louis. The Cubs trailed 4-1 coming into the eighth, but Jose Cardenal hit a solo homer off Alan Foster in the eighth and Randy Hundley tied it in the ninth with a two-run shot off Diego Segui. Rich Folkers got the win with two scoreless innings. Ray Burris took the loss. Cardenal was 5-for-6 with two runs and a double.
