New York 7, Montreal 6 (14 innings): Ron Hodges came off the bench to deliver a two-run pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 13th, then stayed in to catch and drive in the winning run in the 14th. Pepe Mangual had a two-run pinch-hit single in the eighth to put the Expos up 3-1, but Don Hahn tied it with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning off Joe Gilbert. The two bullpens traded zeros for four innings, then Montreal scored three runs in the top of the 13th and the Mets matched it in the bottom of the inning. Ron Woods threw Bud Harrelson out at the plate one batter before Hodges got his game-winning single. John Strohmayer got the win. Tom Walker took the loss.
