The NeL entry overpowered the Orioles, scoring at least five runs in each game. Five Lincoln Giants hitters drove in at least five runs, with John Beckwith totalling nine ribbies.
Game One: Lincoln Giants 7, Orioles 5: The Lincoln Giants plated two runs in the first, two more in the third and two more in the fifth. Baltimore scored four in the bottom of the fifth and another in the sixth but could come no closer. Beckwith and Alejandro Oms hit solo homers. Winning pitcher Smokey Joe Williams allowed just one single throught four innings but gave up six in the fifth inning, his final inning of work.
Game Two: Orioles 8, Lincoln Giants 5: The LGs scored five runs in the first inning but nothing after that. John Donaldson handed a 5-3 lead over to his bullpen after six innings, but Piggy Powell recorded just one out in a disasterous bottom of the seventh and was charged with five runs, four of them earned. The Mark Hendrickson threw five scoreless innings of relief for the win.
Game Three: Lincoln Giants 8. Orioles 2: Hilton Smith scattered seven hits in eight innings, allowing two unearned runs. Beckwith hit a three-run homer in a five-run fifth inning and added an RBI single in the sixth. The Lincoln Giants totaled 17 hits.
Game Four: Lincoln Giants 9, Orioles 1: Williams went the distance with a seven-hitter. The Lincoln Giants had a five-run inning for the third straight game, this time in the fourth inning. Beckwith led off the frame with a homer and Dick Lundy drove in a pair with a base hit.
Game Five: Lincoln Giants 6, Orioles 1: Nip Winters allowed a run on three hits in the top of the first, then allowed just one hit in the next seven innings. Cristobal Torriente hit a pair of homers and Judy Johnson blew it open with a three-run homer in the eighth. Powell got the final three outs to end the series.
Projected rotation: Open to innovation. Williams will work Games One and Four and Game Seven if necessary. How Donaldson, Smith and Winters divvy up the other games is undetermined.
