George bracket: 1924 Senators sweep 2017 Giants

Neither team homered in the four games, and the Senators used just six pitchers, two of them for one inning apiece.

Walter Johnson outdueled Jeff Samardzija in the opener in D.C.'s Griffith Stadium. The only run the Giants got was unearned. San Francisco actually outhit Washington 6-5 but the Senators mixed some extra bases in with their singles. Goose Goslin doubled, singled, scored one run and drove in another, and Joe Judge tripled in a run.

The Senators beat up Matt Moore early in the second game, plated three runs in the first inning as Judge hit another triple. Roger Peckinpaugh scored a pair of runs for Washington. George Mogridge went eight innings for the win, with one of the two runs allowed unearned.

The series shifted to San Francisco and AT&T Park. Madison Bumgarner went seven innings and turned over a 1-0 lead to the bullpen, but the Senators pushed four runs across in the eighth on six singles. The Giants scored twice in the ninth, but spitballer Allan Russell stranded the tying run on third base for the save.

The Big Train went the distance again in Game Four, striking out 13 and again allowing just one earned run. Judge hit a pair of doubles, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run.
