The Polo Grounds was a sluggers paradise as the two teams combined for 48 runs and 25 extra-base hits (including seven homers) in the three-game series.

The first game set the tone early, with the visiting Rams scoring three runs in the first inning. Hugh McQuillan left without getting an out in the fourth inning, by which time he had surrendered 12 hits. He was charged with nine runs, six of them earned. Wayland Dean ate four innings while giving up another five runs. Hack Wilson scored four times and drove in four. Elmer Flick scored three times and Phil Rizzuto, Earle Combs and Joe Sewell twice apiece. Rizzuto also drove in four runs.

Raymond held a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning of the second game, with Rizzuto driving in three of the tallies. But Fordham got one in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth. Flick's two-run double opened the Rams' lead to 8-5 after six innings, but Nellie Fox's error in the bottom of the eighth helped the Flashes score four times off Earl Whitehill to take the lead, and Claude Jonnard threw a perfect ninth to secure the comeback win. Joe Medwick had three doubles for the winners; he drove in three. Fred Lindstrom scored three times. For the Rams, Combs had four runs and Frank Chance three.

Burleigh Grimes had the series' one quality start; Ol' Stubblebeard allowed eight hits and two runs in seven innings for Fordham. Chick Hafey had a two-run homer in the fourth to tie the game, and the Rams scored three in the seventh off Gaylord Perry to take the lead.

Pitcher availability: For Fordham, Rosy Ryan threw two innings in the finale; all other relievers are fully rested. The Rams bullpen is fully rested.

Projected rotations: Rams -- Ruffing-Collins-Holloway-Perry-Ruffing-Whitehill. Flashes -- Haines-Nehf-McQuillan-Grimes-Haines-Barnes.
