Four of the 16 teams of 1924 reached the round of 16. Four were eliminated in the second round. 1924 teams went 23-24 in the second round.

Four of the 18 teams of 1961 reached the round of 16. Seven were eliminated in the second round. 1961 teams went 32-38 in the second round.

Eight of the 30 teams of 2017 reached the round of 16. Five were eliminated in the second round. 2017 teams went 44-37 in the second round.

Three of the No. 1 seeds are still alive, two of the No. 2 seeds, three of the No. 3 seeds, two of the No. 4 seeds. Also surviving: One 5 seed, one 6 seed, one 7 seed, one 9 seed, one 13 seed and one 15 seed. Three DH teams remain.

Three franchises -- Yankees, Indians and Robins-Dodgers -- advanced two teams to the third round.
