Dusty Baker and Mike Lum each had two-RBI hits in a four-run eighth for the Braves, who then had to survive Greg Luzinski's two-run homer in the top of the ninth. Jim Lonborg allowed just three hits in the first seven innings for the Phillies, but he didn't retire any of the first three hitters in the eighth, and relievers George Culver and Mac Scarce couldn't strand the runners he left them. Roric Harrison allowed two runs in eight innings and got the win; Tom House got the last two outs for the save.
Pittsburgh 4, Houston 1
Rennie Stinnett homered leading off the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie, and Manny Sanguillen later singled in two runs. Dock Ellis scattered seven hits in 8.2 innings for the win, and Dave Guisti got the last out for the save. Sanguillen threw out three would-be basestealers, including Cesar Cedeno twice.
