Dan Brouthers tripled in the middle of a two-run fourth inning for Clarissa, and Pud Galvin scattered nine hits in his complete game win. Willie Keeler gunned down Carl Yastzremski at the plate to end the top of the first. Long Prairie scored two runs in the eighth with the help of a King Kelly throwing error, but could not plate Amos Otis after he led off the top of the ninth with a double..

Fishermen 4, Apollos 2

Bertha turned five singles into three runs in the second inning, and Smokey Joe Williams struck out seven men in his complete game win. He had to pitch around three errors by his mates, and he avoided giving up a run when Willie McCovey opened the sixth with a triple. Bob Gibson also threw a complete game, giving up eight hits in as many innings
