Clarissa scored six runs off Gaylord Perry in the first two innings, then truly salted the game away with six runs in the eighth off Mike Marshall and John Hiller. Roger Conner hit a three-run homer in the first, and the Crimsons totaled 17 hits for the game. King Kelly, George Davis and Hugh Duffy each drove in two runs, Cy Young went the distance, allowing four runs on eight hits.
Fishermen 11, Apollos 6
Pop Lloyd drove in four runs and Bill Monroe three as Bertha sprayed 16 hits around Griffith Stadium. Dick Redding allowed three earned runs in 8.1 innings, and Frank Wickware entered to get a double play from the only hitter he faced. Roberto Clemente homered twice to account for five of Hewitt's runs. Fergie Jenkins took the loss.
