Jimmy Collins squeezed home the final run of a five-run outburst in the top of the ninth as Browerville won its fourth straight and pulled into a tie for first place. John Clarkson threw three scoreless innings of relief for the win. Bertha scored four runs in the second and two more in the third, all off Tim Keefe who wound up allowing seven runs in six innings before giving way to Clarkson. Tom Williams held the Novelists scoreless until the sixth. and was pulled in the eighth having allowed three runs.
Agnews 8, Apollos 7 (11 innings)
Bobb Bonds led off the game for Long Prairie with a long ball, and Amos Otis and George Scott also homered for the Agnews, but it was Thurman Munson's single to the gap in the bottom of the 11th that ended the slugfest. The Agnews led most of the the way, but Hewitt plated three runs in the ninth off John Hiller and Nolan Ryan to even the score. Mike Caldwell threw two scoreless innings for the win, and Dan McGinn took the loss.
