Sal Bando homered, doubled and singled to drive in three runs and score a pair as Hewitt hammered the slumping Crimsons. Sam McDowell took a no-hitter into the sixth inning but left in the eighth after loading the bases with nobody out. Dan McGinn retired Dan Brouthers, Joe Kelley and Roger Conner , allowing one run to score. The Apollos then blew the game open with four runs in the bottom of the inning, and McGinn worked a perfect ninth for the save..
