Jim Wynn gunned down two baserunners at home plate to help Fergie Jenkins pick up his first win of the season. Browerville scored in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead, but Johnny Bench and Willie McCovey hit solo homers to even the score. Hewitt broke the tie in the seventh when Cleon Jones walked, stole second, took third on a grounder and came in on Sal Bando's single.

Hugh Duffy's two-run homer in the eighth catapulted Clarissa into the lead and kept the Crimsons in first place. Cy Young went the distance for the win despite allowing 13 hits. Roger Connor also drove in two runs for the Crimsons...
