Browerville slapped Denny McLain around for 12 hits in four-plus innings, and when Dick Kelley relieved, Jesse Burkett greeted him with his first homer of the season. That ended the scoring, as John Clarkson, after allowing three runs (one unearned) in the first two innings, shut out the Apollos the rest of the way. .

Grant "Home Run" Johnson lived up to his nickname in a three-hit, three-RBI performance and Smokey Joe Williams got three double plays turned behind him. Cristobel Torriente tripled, doubled and singled en route to three runs scored and Louis Santop garnered three singles and two RBIs.
