Series 7: Rams take two of three from Orators

Elmer Flick's three-run homer in the top of the first inning capped a four-run rally in the series opener for Raymond, and the Rams scored in four other innings to pull away from Ortonville. Hack Wilson had three doubles for the Rams and scored three times, while Flick stacked up five RBIs with three runs scored while going 4-for-4 with a walk, a double and a steal to go with the homer. Ken Holloway went seven innings, allowing two earned runs, for the win.

The Orators evened the series behind Don Sutton's eight innings of five-hit ball. The Orators scored three runs in the third to take the lead, two more in the fourth and another pair in the eighth. Kiki Cuyler had a triple and single with a run scored and a pair of RBIs. Frank Chance was 3-for-5 with two runs, a steal and a double for the Rams.

Raymond opened the series finale with another three-run homer from Flick. Chance scored two runs. Gaylord Perry spread out seven hits over his eight innings of work for the win, with Hooks Dauss picking up his fourth save with a perfect ninth.

Pitcher availability: Dauss (Rams) and Pruett (Orators) each worked an inning in the final game; if either pitches in their team's next game, they should sit a game for each inning. All other relievers are fully rested.

Projected starters: Rams -- Ruffing-Collins-Holloway-Perry-Whitehill. Orators: Shocker-Davis-Sutton-Jenkins-Wingard.
