Fordham secured second place and came one bad inning from sweeping the Orators.
Joe Medwick and Jim Bottomley hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning of the opener and Jesse Haines outdueled Ferguson Jenkins. Haines went eight innings, allowing four hits and one run. Jenkins also went eight innings, allowing three runs on 11 hits.
Fred Lindstrom went 4-for-5 in the the second game and scored twice, including the winning run in the 10th inning. Heine Manush was also 4-for-5 with a pair of runs for the Orators. Rosy Ryan got the win with two innings of shutout relief.
The Flashes pummeled Dixie Davis for six runs in the third inning of the finale, getting three-run homers from Lindstrom and George Kelly. Jack Bentley, making his (and only) start, turned a 6-1 lead over to Jonnard for the ninth inning, but the Orators got six consecutive hits to open the frame and won. Pee Wee Reese opened with a single. Travis Jackson tripled, pinch-hitter Ken Williams doubled, and Richie Ashburn, Billy Herman and Dan Brouthers all singled. After a popup, Manush singled to drive home the winning run. Elam Vangilder got the win with four scoreless innings of relief.
