Day 19 recaps
Herons 7, Tourists 3
Oscar "Heavy" Johnson ignited a five-run sixth inning with a homer, and Max Manning picked up his third complete-game victory, firing a seven-hitter. Rap Dixon's two-run homer in the third gave the Herons the lead.
Walleyes 3, Conifers 1
Dave Brown and Smokey Joe Williams matched scoreless innings into the eighth, when the Walleyes broke through for three runs. The key inning opened with a Dick Lundy single. Sammy T. Hughes executed the hit-and-run for a second base hit, and Jelly Gardner pulled off the squeeze bunt. T.J. Young drove Williams from the game with a double, and later scored on a Bill Monroe single. Mule Suttles homered off Brown to open the ninth, and after Frog Redus singled, Roosevelt Davis entered to get the final three outs on a double play and a strikeout.
