Chet Brewer went the distance and Spoony Palm started the winning rally with a two-out single in the top of the ninth as the Tourists snapped their long losing streak. Brewer allowed six hits and one walk.. Palm, who entered the game when starting catcher Larry Brown was injured in his first at-bat, scored twice.

Loons 8, Walleyes 6
The Loons scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh, all off Leon Day, to overtake the Walleyes in the standings. Turkey Stearnes homered, drove in three runs and scored three. Phil Cockrell threw two scoreless innings of relief to protect the lead for Verdell Mathis, who staggered through seven innings for the win.
