Jose Mendez allowed three runs on eight hits in eight innings, and Willie Wells hit a two-run homer in the first inning as the Herons kept their pennant hopes alive. Bonnie Serrell doubled in a pair of runs in the Herons decisive three-run seventh. Ghost Marcelle tripled, singles and scored twice. Harry Salmon threw a perfect ninth for his first save.
Loons 15, Tourists 4
The Loons battered four Tourists pitchers for 21 hits, drew 10 walks and got hit twice with pitches. Every starter scored at least once, and all but one had at least one RBI. Biz Mackey scored five runs and Alec Radcliff drove in five. Rube Currie went the distance for the win, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits.
