Hewitt mashed four homers off three Browerville pitchers to rout the Novelists. Fergie Jenkins went eight-plus innings for the win despite 10 hits and three walks, The Apollos scored six runs in the second to saddle Old Hoss Radbourne with the loss; Jim Wynn had a two-run homer in that frame. Robert Clemente hit a three-run homer in the sixth off Tim Keefe, and Sal Bando and Willie McCovey each homered off Al Spalding.
Fishermen 7, Agnews 3
Bertha's regular designated hitter, Candy Jim Taylor, has spent most the season below the Mendoza line, but in this game he homered for the Fishermen's first run and singled home the go-ahead run in top of the ninth. He finshed 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. John Donaldson went the distance, allowing seven hits, for the win. Cristobal Torriente drove in three runs for the winners.
