Agnews 3, Apollos 2

Pinch-hitter Thurman Munson doubled home pinch-runner Larry Bowa from first base to end a taut pitchers duel between a pair of previously winless starters. The Agnews scored a pair of runs in the first inning off Denny McLain, but McLain then retired 17 of the next 18 hitters. The Apollos twice left the bases loaded against Gaylord Perry but evened the score on a Willie Stargell homer in the fifth.

Fishermen 10, Novelists 7

Cristobal Torriente homered among his four hits and was one of four Fishermen with two RBIs as Bertha moved into first place. Sam Thompson hit a grand slam in Browerville's five-run sixth, which knocked Dick Redding out of the box, but Frank Wickware popped up Cap Anson with the base loaded to end the inning and went on to allow one run in 3.1 innings.
