The two best records collided and left unchanged after splitting a pair of high-scoring games.

Homestead jumped on Walter Johnson for two runs in each of the first two innings and made the score 6-0 in the fifth. Dave Brown was touched up for four runs in the late innings, but the Obamas never really had the game in reach.

In the homer-filled second game, Nolan Ryan stuck out 12 but allowed three homers and walked five. Ray Brown, however, walked six and allowed three homers of his own, two of them to Jimmy Foxx.

Foxx had five RBIs in the second game, six for the series.
