Agnews 2, Fishermen 1 (13 innings)

Willie Stargell homered in the ninth inning to even the score at one, and pinch-runner Bobby Grich scored in the top of the 13th on Joe Morgan's short fly for the go-ahead tally. Tom Seaver and Tom William each went 10 innings in no-decisions. Wilbur Wood threw two scoreless innings for the win, and John Hiller got the save. John Donaldson took the loss..

 

Crimsons 8, Novelists 5

Clarissa plated all eight of its runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, getting 10 hits in the three innings to drive Tim Keefe from the box. Pud Galvin went 8.2 innings, leaving after allowing two runs in the ninth with two more men on base. Kid Nichols entered to get a groundout fro Hughie Jennings to end it.

Pitcher availability notes:

Apollos: Gibson eligible Day 5. McDowell may work Day 5 with penalty, Day 6 without penalty. McLain is eligible to start Day 6. Projected starters:Jenkins Day 4, Gibson Day 5.either McDowell or McLain on Day 6, with the other on Day 7. Aaron is injured and out until Day 6.

Agnews: Blyleven is eligible to start on Day 6, which is an off day. Seaver is eligible to start on Day 7. Projected starters: Ryan Day 4, Perry Day 5, off Day 6, Blyleven Day 7

Crimsons: Rusie is eligible for Day 5, Galvin for Game 6. Projected starters: Young for Day 4, off Day 5, Nicols Game 6 unless he relieves Day 4, in which case Cummings starts. Off Day 7
