END OF SEASON
Pittsburgh 8, Chicago 7 (11 innings): Al Oliver, the first batter Bob Locker saw when he entered in the top of the 11th, homered to break the deadlock. It was the Pirates second homer of the game (Richie Hebner in the third) and their ninth extra-base hit. Oliver himself had a pair of doubles and a single. The Cubs got a three-run homer from Paul Popovich and a two-run homer from Carmen Fanzone. Ramon Hernandez threw three scoreless innings in which he faced just nine hitters for the win. Dave Guisti worked a perfect bottom of the 11th for the save.
