Willard Brown led off the bottom of the ninth with a long homer off Big Bill Foster to put the Walleyes a half-game ahead of the idle Loons. Foster had nurtured a 1-0 lead into the eighth, when Cool Papa Bell singled home Dewey Creacy with two outs to tie it. Satchel Paige scattered eight hits, only one after the fourth inning, for the win.

Herons 8, Conifers 6
Oscar Charleston scored three runs and drove in two, including the go-ahead run in a decisive eighth-inning rally. Rap Dixon also scored three runs, while Louis Santop and and Heavy Johnson each drove in a pair. Sam Streeter threw two scoreless innings of relief to close it out for Harry Salmon.
