Turkey Stearnes hammered a pair of two-run homers and San Bankhead added another to support Bill Drake. Drake allowed one earned run on four hits in 7.6 innings. Ted Trent shut out the Loons for five innings before Stearnes' first bomb in the sixth, and the Loons racked up Trent and reliever Bill Holland for five runs in the seventh.
Herons 5, Walleyes 4 (10 innings)
Willie Wells led off the bottom of the 10th with a walk-off to cap a dramatic series of unlikely events for the Herons. In the bottom of the ninth Bruce Petway doubled home pinch-runner Cheney White from first base to even the score. In the top of the 10th, White gunned down Bill Monroe at the plate to keep the score tied and set the stage for Wells' game winner. Loser Leon Day allowed just six hits, but they were all involved in the Herons' runs.
