John Beckwith homered twice and Bill Monroe added another as the Walleyes ended Bill Drake's winning streak and moved back into first place. Drake allowed 10 hits and six runs in the first four innings but no hits after that. Leon Day allowed four runs on eight hits in 7.6 innings; Frank Wickware got the final out of the eighth with the bases loaded, and Slim Jones worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save.
