Day 14 recaps
Conifers 12, Loons 7
The Conifers ripped Rube Currie for six runs in two innings and were never seriously threatened after that. Newt Allen hit a three-run homer in the seventh as the first four hitters that inning went for the cycle off tiring reliever Phil Cockrell. Bullet Joe Rogan was charged with five runs in eight-plus innings but got the win.
Walleyes 3, Herons 2
The Walleyes pulled into a tie for first place behind Cannonball Redding's strong start. Redding was charged with two runs on eight hits and two walks in 8.1 innings. Roosevelt Davis entered with men on second and third and one out in the ninth and retired Cheney White and Ghost Marcelle to preserve the win. Cool Papa Bell went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
