Day 23 recaps
NY Yankees 2, Brooklyn 1: The Yankees got two triples and plated both of them to give Herb Pennock just enough support. Aaron Ward tripled in the second and scored when Rube Ehrhardt booked Everett Scott's nibbler. Babe Ruth tripled to lead off the eighth and scored on Bob Meusel's fly ball. Pennock allowed five hits and retired the final 13 hitters.

Brooklyn 2, NY Yankees 0:  Spitting' Bill Doak threw a six-hit shutout for the Robins, and Tommy Griffith's two doubles were involved in each of the Robins' runs. He scored in the fifth on Zach Taylor's singles, and plated Johnny Mitchell from first back with his seventh-inning two-bagger.
