Baltimore 2, Brooklyn 1: John Donaldson held the Robins to three hits and had two himself, including a two-out double in the eighth that led to the winning run. Donaldson walked two and struck out five. Loser Dutch Ruether allowed six hits in eight innings while striking out eight.:  T

Washington 9, NY Yankees 8 (18 innings): Tom Zachary threw six innings of scoreless relief after Allen Russell and Fred Marberry each surrendered leads by giving up a home run. Wally Schang hit a three-run homer off Russell in the seventh to cap a four-run rally that knotted the game at 6. After Joe Judge doubled home Goose Goslin in the top of the ninth to give Washington the lead again, Babe Ruth tied it with a solo shot off Marberry. Roger Peckinpaugh singled home Ossie Bluege in the 18th, and a weary Zachary pitched around a Joe Dugan single in the bottom of the frame.
