Washington 4, NY Yankees 2: The middle of the Washington lineup hit three consecutive doubles in the first inning to take the lead. George Mogridge walked the tightrope for seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, four walks and a hit batter. Fred Marberry worked two scoreless innings for the save.
Washington 3, NY Yankees 2: Nemo Leibold singled home Muddy Ruel with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to cap the comeback. The Yankees led 2-0 after three innings, but Tom Zachary escaped a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the seventh and went the distance. Roger Peckinpaugh had a pair of RBI singles for Washington.
